Ray
Of Sunshine -- Literally!
Read
Interview
She
can weave story lines that are congruous with the best plots.
Her characters are full of life ... reverberating and believable.
She's won several distinguished literary accolades for a
writing career that sparkles with illuminating light, thus
making her name more eponymous than it appear to be. Francis
Ray the author -- this breath of fresh air on cool summer
day -- is truly a ray of sunshine amidst anything that define
what a good read should be, and whom should be writing it.
I remember setting eyes on this author for the first time
and wondered who she was and why was she so revered.
After
being introduced to her, I immediately knew why, and felt
that if personality and congeniality symbolized good virtues
then this person had what it took. This writer has come
a long way. So much so that fellow author, Nathasha
Brooks-Harris remembers from the beginning that Ray
stood out among the rest. Says Ms Brooks-Harris, "Many
people probably don't know it, but Francis Ray developed
her fiction writing chops as a regualr writer for the black
confessions magazines (Black Confessions, Black Romance,
and Jive) back in the late 1980's. I was her editor back
then, and from the first story I bought from her, it was
evident that her work was a cut above much of what I was
receiving. That intuition was right on point because I was
right...and I am so proud of her! I am also proud to have
seen the growth of her work from then to now, and all that
I can say is that no one deserves it more than this lovely,
soft-spoken lady!"
Merging
a penchant for detail and a facility for accurate research
analogy, Francis Ray's books gives new meaning to dramatic
effect and as page-turning thrillers! This is done with
a verbal vivacity that is equal parts McMillan and anybody
else you, the reader, hold in highest esteem. The talent
and way with words are evident if you've read any of her
past novels. Witness the contrast of love and and hate in
Forever Yours, or the metaphoric melange as she describes
tone and tenor to set the stage for I Know Who Holds
Tomorrow, and not to mention compelling idiocy, irony,
longing in the superb latest offering of Somebody's Knocking
At My Door. Francis Ray has weathered the storm and
riding the waves of success. She's a native Texan who lives
in Dallas with her husband and daughter. She is the author
of sixteen novels and five novellas...and is currently at
work on bringing more of her writing style with eight new
upcoming titles. I caught up with Ms Ray as we talked about
her writing style, in-depth comments about her books The
Turning Point, and Somebody's Knocking At My Door
and what makes her who she is.
